Centre grants Delhi Police chief powers to detain people under NSA in routine renewal
The Centre has granted Delhi Police Commissioner powers to detain people under the National Security Act (NSA), 1980, in a routine renewal exercise. The powers applicable till October 18 allow Delhi Police to detain individuals without formal charges from 12 days to a maximum of 12 months. This comes amid the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) protests at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.
