Centre may mandate KYC verification for online platforms: Report

The Centre may soon have KYC-based user identification for social media apps, dating platforms, and online gaming platforms, Financial Express reported citing parliamentary committee proposals. It mentioned that the move becomes essential to tackle fake accounts, cyberstalking, online harassment, and other forms of online abuse. Notably, the proposals were submitted to IT and Home ministries.
