Centre recognises 55,200+ entities as startups in 2025-26

The Centre on Friday stated it has recognised over 55,200 startups in FY26, the highest since launch of Startup India initiative in 2016, taking the total to more than 2.23 lakh. As per Ministry of Commerce and Industry, these startups created over 23.36 lakh direct jobs, with recognition rising 51.6% YoY. Employment also rose by 36.1%, reflecting strong ecosystem growth.
