Centre to give 5 kg free food grains to 80 cr poor for next 2 months

The Central government will provide free food grains to the poor under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana (PMGKAY) in May and June amid the second wave of COVID-19. Around 80 crore beneficiaries will get 5 kg free food grains per person for the next two months. The Centre will spend over ₹26,000 crore for this initiative.
