Centre urges Karnataka to set SAP for sugarcane farmers

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi wrote to Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar, urging relief measures including a State Advised Price (SAP) for sugarcane growers. Key concerns raised include alleged under-reporting of sugar recovery, weighment discrepancies, and unfair deductions for mechanically harvested cane. A committee under Prof. Ramesh Chand has been formed to examine farmers' grievances.
