ChatGPT isn't lawyer: OpenAI on case over AI citations in filings

OpenAI asked a US judge to dismiss a lawsuit alleging it gave unauthorised legal advice, arguing that ChatGPT is not a lawyer and does not ​practice law. OpenAI said there were no ‌grounds to support a lawsuit by Nippon Life Insurance Company. The lawsuit said ChatGPT helped a disability plaintiff breach a settlement while flooding court filings with AI-generated quotations.
