ChatGPT performs insider trading, lies to user in research demo

UK-based AI safety organisation Apollo Research showcased ChatGPT's ability to perform insider trading without being prompted to do so. In a demonstration, the AI chatbot used made-up insider information to buy stocks and then lied about its actions. The bot internally decided that "the risk associated with not acting seems to outweigh the insider trading risk".
