Leading academic publisher Springer Nature has said tools like ChatGPT "threaten transparent science". It added that such tools cannot be credited as an author on a research paper as "any attribution of authorship carries with it accountability for the work, and AI tools cannot take such responsibility". It also said researchers using the tools should reveal that in the paper.
