Chelsea defeated Palmeiras 2-1 after extra time in the final to win the Club World Cup for the first time. Romelu Lukaku opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 55th minute before Raphael Veiga equalised in the 64th minute. Kai Havertz converted a penalty to win the match for Chelsea in the second half of extra time.
