Chennai imposes curbs for New Year's Eve, bans public from beaches

Chennai Police has imposed COVID-19 curbs amid new coronavirus variant Omicron and said people won't be allowed on beaches on New Year's Eve. From 9 pm onwards, vehicles won't be allowed on Marina Beach, from War Memorial to Gandhi Statue, Kamaraj Road and Besant Nagar Elliots Beach Road. Resorts, farmhouses, clubs are banned from organising DJ events and dance parties.
