Chennai man has 5 kidneys, including damaged ones, after third renal transplant

A 41-year-old man, with chronic kidney disease and severe hypertension, underwent a third renal transplant in Chennai. The man's body now has five kidneys, including damaged kidneys. Doctors decided not to remove the old kidneys as the man could've profusely bled, requiring blood transfusion. This could've led to production of antibodies that could cause rejection of new kidney, doctors said.
