Chimpanzees and Bonobos have human-like friend circles, a study has found. Most apes spent most of their grooming time on a small number of preferred partners while maintaining less intensive relationships with many others. Bonobos distributed their grooming time more evenly among group members, while chimpanzees concentrated more of their effort on a smaller number of favoured companions.
