China & Brazil create joint space laboratory despite US pressure

China and Brazil have started building a joint space-technology laboratory, despite opposition from US. Washington has described these telescopes as tools that could be used by China to increase its surveillance over America and its activities in a region it considers crucial. Meanwhile, China has accused US of interference and politicising scientific cooperation.
