China and Afghanistan held high-level talks on activating the Wakhan Corridor, a move that could allow Beijing to bypass Pakistan amid rising militant attacks and instability, reported CNN-News18, citing diplomatic sources. As Pakistan failed to protect Chinese citizens, China has been pushed to actively look for alternative transit routes, they added. Taliban captured the corridor in August 2022.
