China allows foreigners to climb Everest for 1st time since pandemic

China has allowed foreigners to climb Mount Everest through the Tibetan route for the first time in four years. This route had remained closed to foreigners since breakout of COVID-19 pandemic. Tourists need two visas, one for China and another for the semi-autonomous region of Tibet to reach Everest. A maximum of 300 permits are issued annually to non-Chinese climbers.
