China approves world's first brain implant for commercial use

China has given the world's first approval for a commercial brain-computer interface (BCI) device. The invasive device, made by Borui Kang Medical Technology (Shanghai), aims to restore movement and communication in humans suffering from different forms of paralysis. It is designed for patients with quadriplegia caused by cervical spinal cord injuries.
