China calls US shutdown of Iranian airlines 'illegal'

China opposed US threats to shut down Iranian airlines, calling them "illegal". "If they land, you cannot provide them with fuel...cannot provide them with landing services...cannot sell them tickets, or you will be knocked out of the dollar system," US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has threatened. "[We oppose] illegal unilateral sanctions that lack a basis in international law," China said.
