China can stop citizens leaving country if tech security is at risk

Under China’s new travel rules, Chinese authorities can stop citizens from leaving the country if their activities are considered a threat to national, industrial or technological security. Authorities can also prevent citizens from leaving China for six months to three years in certain cases after they return from abroad. The rules take effect from Tuesday, September 15.
