China condemns 'political suppression' of reporter in US

China's foreign ministry on Monday said it opposed the "political suppression" of a US-based reporter of the Xinhua news ​agency. The foreign ministry's spokesperson, Lin Jian, said US' unilateral provocation caused media issues between both countries. This comes months after The New York Times said its reporter had been expelled from China after an interview with Taiwan President Lai Ching-te.
