China develops hydrogen-ion implanter to boost chip self-reliance

China has developed its first "microscopic scalpel", a high-energy hydrogen-ion implanter called POWER-750H. Ion implanters are central to some forms of semiconductor manufacturing. Researchers claimed that the implanter matches international standards in performance and its development helps strengthen China's self-reliance in semiconductor industry by reducing dependency on foreign imports.
