China holds drills opposite Taiwan days after large-scale exercise

China is holding live-fire drills near Pingtan islands off the coast of Fujian province facing Taiwan days after conducting large-scale military exercise around it. Taiwan's Defence Ministry said it is tracking the drills, calling them a part of an annual exercise. "It cannot be ruled out that it is one of the ways to expand the deterrent effect," it added.
