China plans futures market for trading AI tokens: Report

China's Shanghai Futures Exchange is designing a futures market for AI tokens, the units of data processed by AI models, according to Reuters. This comes as major US exchanges prepare to launch GPU compute futures. China's daily token usage has jumped 1,000-fold since the start of 2024 to over 140 trillion by the end of March.
