China’s Buddha carvers struggle as ancient craft fades

In eastern China's Chongshan village, master artisans continue carving Buddha statues, but the centuries-old craft is fading. With low pay, shrinking demand, and few young apprentices, woodcarvers fear the tradition will disappear once their generation retires.
