China's BYD unveils ultra-fast EV battery system, claims 400-km range on 5-minute charge

Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer BYD unveiled a battery system that can enable cars to travel 400 km on a 5-minute charge, founder Wang Chuanfu said. The battery system can operate at peak charging speeds of 1,000 kilowatts, which is twice the speed of Tesla’s latest Superchargers. BYD said it intends to build over 4,000 ultra-fast charging units across China.
