China tests Y-30 airlifter to enhance PLA transport capabilities

China has begun flight testing a new tactical airlifter, informally called the Y-30, marking a quieter yet consequential step in PLA power projection. A product of the Shaanxi Aircraft Corporation, the Y-30 is expected to partially replace the company’s Y-9 four-turboprop transport. It features a wide fuselage, rear ramp, heavy landing gear, and a T-tail.
