China to impose sanctions on US arms suppliers to Taiwan

China will impose sanctions on US firms involved in arms sales to Taiwan, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said. Sanctions will be imposed on Lockheed Martin, Boeing Defense and Raytheon to "safeguard China's national interests", he added. Earlier, the US announced that it had approved the potential sale of three weapons systems worth over $1.8 billion to Taiwan.
