China to raise retirement age in 5 years as population gets older

China will raise its statutory retirement age in next five years to allow people to work longer as its life expectancy is projected to exceed 80 years by 2050. The current retirement age for men is 60 years and for women in white-collar jobs is 55 years. Notably, China is also grappling with a declining birth rate and ageing population.
