Chinese bots fill Twitter with porn to drown out lockdown protest tweets

To suppress tweets and videos of anti-lockdown protests, Chinese bot accounts are filling Twitter with ads for sex workers, pornography and gambling when users search for major Chinese cities using Chinese script, analysts said. Standford University researcher Mangyu Dong said escort services ads have made it "more difficult for Chinese users to access information about the mass protests".
