Chipko Movement leader Sunderlal Bahuguna dies due to COVID-19

Noted environmentalist Sunderlal Bahuguna, who was being treated for COVID-19 at AIIMS hospital in Rishikesh, died on Friday. Condoling the 94-year-old leader's death, Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat said, "It was he who made the Chipko Movement a movement of the masses." PM Narendra Modi tweeted, "Passing away of Shri Sunderlal Bahuguna Ji is a monumental loss for our nation."
