Cigarettes to become costlier as tax increased by 16%

Cigarettes will become costlier as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the Union Budget 2023-24 announced that the National Calamity Contingent Duty (NCCD) on specific cigarettes will be revised upwards by 16%. The NCCD was last revised three years ago, Sitharaman said while proposing the hike in the duty.
