CJI recuses from hearing contempt plea against comedian Kunal Kamra

Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud has recused himself from hearing pleas seeking contempt action against comedian Kunal Kamra for his alleged objectionable tweets against the judiciary. Kamra posted a series of tweets after the Supreme Court's order to grant bail to Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami in a 2018 suicide abetment case. Kamra had criticised the Supreme Court.
