Law's first duty is to be understood by people: CJI Surya Kant
Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, speaking at the Prof NR Madhava Menon Memorial Lecture in New Delhi, stressed that compassion in judging means seeing the whole human situation behind a case. He called for legal aid at police stations, child-friendly testimony spaces, and judgments written in plain language litigants can understand.
