Claim of milk powder equivalent to mother's milk illegal: Advocate

Section 3 of the Infant Milk Substitutes (IMS) Act, 1992, criminalises advertisements claiming that a milk product is 'better than' or 'equivalent' to mother's milk. This provision is intended to ensure that infants are not exposed to marketed powders as substitutes for mother's milk, said Advocate Deepak Somani.
