Claude tries to solve 167-year-old maths problem, makes surprise breakthrough

An unreleased version of Anthropic's Claude tried solving the Riemann Hypothesis, a 167-year-old maths problem carrying a $1-million (around ₹9 crore) prize. While the AI couldn't solve the problem, it unexpectedly improved the known lower bound for zeros satisfying the hypothesis from 41.6% to 67.2%. The model built on decades of prior research by mathematicians to make this progress.
