Climber Nirmal Purja, who died in avalanche, climbed world's top 14 peaks in 6 months

Mountaineer Nirmal Purja, who died on Broad Peak, set a world record in 2019 by climbing all 14 of the world's 8,000-metre peaks in 189 days. At the time, the existing record stood at nearly eight years. Purja was part of a 10-member team that went missing earlier this week after an avalanche struck the world's 12th-highest mountain.
