Closest ever images of Sun reveal its south pole and 'solar hedgehog'

The European Space Agency's Solar Orbiter snapped the Sun in March this year during its closest approach to the star. One of the images shows the Sun's south pole as seen by the Solar Orbiter. Another image shows a geyser of hot and cold gas emanating from the Sun's surface in all directions that the scientists dubbed the "solar hedgehog".
