Coca-Cola was first sold on this day

Carbonated soft drink Coca-Cola was sold for the first time ever on May 8, 1886, in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. John Stith Pemberton, a pharmacist, produced the Coca-Cola syrup and added carbonated water before placing it on sale for five cents a glass. Notably, an average of nine Coca-Cola​ bottles were sold per day during the first year.
