Colombia’s constitutional court on Wednesday legalised adoption for gay, lesbian, and transsexual couples in the country. However, the country's Roman Catholic church objected to the decision claiming it was a violation of child rights. Supporters have argued that the move will serve in favour of close to 10,000 children, who are under the protection of the country’s welfare agencies.
