Comedy filmmakers looked at as jokers, not respected: Priyadarshan

Filmmaker Priyadarshan, known for comedy films such as 'Hera Pheri', said he'd prefer to make "serious" films but is often forced to make comedies despite not being "respected for it". He clarified, "I love making films like 'Kanchivaram' and 'Kaalapaani' because there I'll be accepted more as a filmmaker...They look at you as a joker when you make comedy films."
