Compensate those illegally detained in jail: Allahabad HC to UP govt

Allahabad High Court directed the Uttar Pradesh government to provide monetary compensation to two persons who were illegally detained in Varanasi in October 2020. HC stated that Varanasi's Sub-Divisional Magistrate acted "arbitrarily and illegally" in detaining the two persons for breach of peace. Arrests were made on October 8 and notably, the accused had furnished personal bonds on October 12.
