Cong suspends Shakeel Ahmad for contesting polls independently

The Congress on Sunday suspended its ex-MP Shakeel Ahmad from the party for contesting independently from Bihar's Madhubani parliamentary constituency. Ahmad had filed his nomination in two sets as a Congress candidate and an independent and withdrew the former after the party declined his request for allotting its symbol. The Congress also suspended Benipatti MLA Bhavana Jha from the party.
