Congo sentences 3 US citizens to death over alleged coup attempt

A court in the Democratic Republic of the Congo sentenced 37 people, including three US citizens, to death over an alleged coup plot. Others sentenced include a Belgian, a British, and a Canadian. Court president Freddy Ehume announced the death penalty charging them with "criminal association" and "terrorism". Fourteen others were acquitted, with no proven connection to the coup attempt.
