Congress appoints 42-yr-old Amit Chavda as new Gujarat head

The Congress has appointed 42-year-old Amit Chavda as the new chief of its Gujarat unit, replacing 64-year-old Bharatsinh Solanki who had held the post since December 2015. This comes days after Congress President Rahul Gandhi said the younger generations should come forward to take the party leadership. Inspired by Gandhi's words, 71-year-old Shantaram Naik had resigned as Goa Congress chief.
