Congress passed resolution in 1923 to release Savarkar: Grandnephew tells court

Satyaki Savarkar, VD Savarkar's grandnephew, told court in Pune that Indian National Congress' Kakinada session in 1923 had passed a resolution seeking Savarkar's release. He claimed resolution was passed because Savarkar's popularity was growing and public pressure for his release was mounting. "Savarkar wasn't released due to...petitions but efforts made in National Assembly in 1937," he stated.
