Congress thinks a man should be allowed to remarry if his wife falls ill: Assam CM
As Assam became the third state to enact the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), CM Himanta Biswa Sarma rejected what he described as Congress's demand that a man should be allowed to remarry if his wife falls ill. "This is cruelty...In the Hindu culture...if the wife falls ill...the man's duty is to get her treated," he said. The UCC mandates monogamy.
