Constitution provides five writ remedies under law

The Constitution empowers the Supreme Court and High Courts under Articles 32 and 226 to issue five writs: habeas corpus, mandamus, prohibition, certiorari and quo warranto. The Preamble states principles including sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic, justice, liberty, equality, fraternity and integrity. “Socialist” and “secular” were added by the 42nd Amendment.
