Conviction rate in Assam nearly doubles after new laws: Police

Conviction rate in Assam has nearly doubled since implementation of three new criminal laws a year and a half ago, said police. Assam Police Special Director General (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta said conviction rates have crossed 50 percent in cases registered under new criminal laws. Cases filed under earlier legal framework recorded conviction rate of around 25 percent.
