Counting of votes begins after re-polling in West Bengal

The counting of votes is underway in West Bengal after re-polling for panchayat elections was held in over 600 booths in 19 districts. The re-polling was conducted after the West Bengal State Election Commission declared the voting "void" over allegations of tampering with ballot boxes, booth capturing and violence, among others. Security has been deployed at counting centres.
