COVID-19 vaccine approved by Russia today is still in Phase 3 trial

The COVID-19 vaccine which was granted regulatory approval by Russia today began Phase 3 trial last week. Professor Alexander Gintsburg, head of the Gamaleya Institute that developed the vaccine, said that vaccination will start while the trials continue. The final-stage study, generally involving thousands of participants, is vital to prove if an experimental vaccine is safe and effective.
