Credit card spending in India reached ₹1,990 billion in January 2026, up 8.1% year-on-year, while dipping 2.7% from December, a report said. Total transactions hit 537 million, up nearly 25% annually, though spending was weaker month-on-month as major banks saw lower usage. HDFC Bank gained market share among lenders.
